A Letter from the Rector

Dear Friends:

As we begin another year in the life of this church I want to commend a few matters to you for your prayerful consideration. The year that has past has been a difficult one for all of us in many different ways. Some of us have lost loved ones, others of us have lost jobs or had our hours reduced. Others have gone through serious bouts of illness, but in one way or another we have all had our difficulties. As a parish family we have struggled with our financial difficulties and we have managed to survive in large measure due to the generosity of those who have gone on before us. We will ever be grateful for their contribution to our on going ministry.

We can be justly proud of our achievements in terms of the physical plant but we need in this New Year to concentrate on our spiritual lives. The emphasis in this year will be on Worship and Spiritual Growth. Bible Study, Prayer meetings, periods of reflection and study will be our emphases. These will be opened to any one who is interested.

We are reactivating the Worship Committee, which will meet periodically to review our worship offerings and to decide on what is working and what is not. We intend to remain very opened to ideas that can help in our spiritual growth as a parish. I remain convinced that if we grow spiritually our financial woes will dissipate. Beginning in Epiphany we will initiate a study of a book, which deals with growth in congregations. It will be done on Sunday mornings between the services. All are invited. This is just a beginning. There is much that can be done and that will be done but none of it can happen without your response. Essentially this is all about where out commitment lies. In the words of the prophet Joshua... we must chose this day whom we will serve.

My prayer this year is for revival, refreshment and a fruitful spiritual life in this church.

An Opportunity To Volunteer and Make a Difference

We regret to inform your that our webminister is leaving and we will need someone to fill his shoes. While we are searching, this site's content might "go stale"... A-List emails will stop; things might not be updated; and yes, sadly, new sermons will not be added.

If you would like to step up and take over this very important ministry, please speak with Fr. Williams or email Ed at webminister@staugepiscopal.org soon. You should have good, working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and some familiarity with JavaScript, Flash, and PHP, or know how to setup and administer a content management system (CMS).

More details are included in the position description PDF.
